About Dr. Anatoli Kamali
Dr. Anatoli Kamali is the Deputy Director of the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS, and Head of the HIV Epidemiology and Prevention Programme.
He holds a first degree in Medicine and Surgery from Makerere University, Kampala, an MSc degree in Public Health in Developing Countries from LSHTM, and PhD in Public Health from City University, UK. Dr. Kamali has been involved in HIV/STI research since 1989, and has led several HIV intervention clinical trials.
His interest is in identifying and evaluating HIV prevention strategies relevant for developing world, in particular vaginal microbicides, HIV vaccines, and interventions that could improve health among HIV-infected individuals. He is part of various international scientific collaborations with institutions in the UK, USA and Africa; and has served on several scientific boards for international organizations and conferences. He has authored/coauthored over 65 peer reviewed scientific articles.
